Blues Fest relocating to River Center

Due to forecasted inclement weather, the Baton Rouge Blues Festival is moving all festival programming to the Baton Rouge River Center Exhibition Hall, Galleria and Ballroom areas.

In a press release, festival chairperson Chris Brooks says it’s unfortunate that the festival had to be moved indoors, “but we’re ultimately under the control of the weather gods. The Blues Festival’s number one priority is the safety of everyone involved.”

There is an 80 percent chance of thunderstorms for Saturday throughout the day.

Updated times and a revised schedule is now available at the Blues Festival’s website.

The Foundation Stage and Swamp Blues Stage will be located in the River Center Exhibition Hall. Due to the proximity of these two stages, performances will be tiered throughout the day. The Soul of BR Stage will be in the ballroom located near the St. Louis Street entry. The Back Porch—the newest of the festival’s four stages—will be located off the galleria area. Performance times for the Soul of BR Stage and The Back Porch will continue as previously scheduled.

Festival attendees can enter the River Center at two entrances: the Exhibition Hall entrance on River Road and the second floor plaza entrance on St. Louis Street.

This year is the 21st annual iteration of the free festival. Headliners include Charles Bradley and His Extraordinaires, Arrested Development, Heartless Bastards and Lazy Lester.
