Arts picks: Prospect BR and LSU School of Art team up

Prospect.3+Baton Rouge showcases works from LSU School of Art grad students
Head to The Healthcare Gallery (3488 Brentwood Drive, Suite 103) Friday, Dec. 5, for a free opening reception of works from LSU School of Art graduate students. The exhibit, dubbed “Resilience: The Healing Power of Art,” is the culmination of a collaboration between the students and Prospect.3+Baton Rouge. The reception starts at 6 p.m. and features works from Chelsea Ramirez, Adam Meistrell, Jono Wright and many more. If you miss the reception, the exhibit will be open at the gallery through Jan. 16. Williamson Howard Fine Art celebrates its first anniversary
Local gallery Williamson Howard Fine Art rings in the holiday season by throwing a birthday party. Festivities start Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m. The celebration includes works from artists such as Brittany Lee Howard, Gabriel Saint, Jill Mulkey and Lauren Collignon. Also this week
In its final exhibition for 2014, Baton Rouge Gallery spotlights works from Jenny Authement, Frankie Gould, Michael W. Howes and Margaret Humphris. A free “First Wednesday” opening reception takes place Wednesday, Dec. 3, 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Gould and Humphris will also discuss their work Sunday, Dec. 7, as part of the Gallery’s free ARTiculate Artist Talk series. The Arts Council hosts the first of three December Arts Markets, starting Saturday, Dec. 6, 8 a.m.-noon on Fifth Street. The market features work from more than 70 artists. Additional December Arts Markets take place Dec. 13 and 20. Visit artsbr.org for more information.

Unwind with Yoga in the Galleries. The new class from the Red Stick Peace Makers takes place at LSU Museum of Art Thursday at 6 p.m. Classes continue Jan. 15, 22, 29 and Feb. 5.
