Pages Matam, the 2014 National Poetry Slam Champion, visits Baton Rouge this week. On Tuesday, the poet performs at Eclectic Truth’s weekly Poetry Slam and Open Mic Night at the Firehouse Gallery inside the Arts Council building. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. The show begins at 8 p.m. Matam’s work has been featured on The Huffington Post and The Washington Post. The ninth annual Baton Rouge Jewish Film Festival kicks off Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Manship Theatre.
