Description: 'The Barn' contains hundreds of artifacts dealing with everyday rural life dating from prehistoric times to the early 20th century. The barn has evolved with the expansion of museum collections into a major exhibition center -- a museum where a potpourri of artifacts and vehicles spanning several centuries of Louisiana history are displayed. The contents of the barn are arranged in collections which reflect various facets of the everyday life of Louisiana's rural residents, from the earliest Indian civilizations to the multi-cultured inhabitants of the pre-industrial South. The development of Louisiana industry is also spotlighted in the barn's exhibits of models and numerous tools and implements.
