Description: The Baton Rouge Irish Club will be hosting the fourth annual Bloomsday celebration at The Baton Rouge Gallery on Monday June 16th at 6:30 to 9:00. A reception with wine and hors d’ouvres will begin the evening as the bag piper pipes the guests into the gallery. Some wonderful raffle prizes and silent auction items will be available. Music will be provided by Kate Kane Laborde and Dr. Garret McCutchan, two well known musicians in Irish, Celtic, and international fare. Readings from James Joyce will be done by Helen Hoffpauir, Dr. Michael Katchmer, and Sally Lyons Wood. Helen Hoffpauir has sung for years in the area and has a theater background as well. Mike Katchmer is a Latin professor at LSU and regular actor in theater. Sally Wood has been the harpist for the Baton Rouge Symphony and recently retired. Dr. Pat Mcgee, the James Joyce scholar at LSU, will also do a pre sentation and overview of James Joyce. There will be toasts, raffles, food and great literary and musical moments. Admission is free. Enjoy a bit of Ireland here in Baton Rouge! The day’s festivities will continue after the Gallery event at The Red Star Bar on Laurel St. in downtown Baton Rouge.
