Description: Friday Sept 14 7pm @ Taylor Clark Gallery 2623 Government Street
Join us at Taylor Clark Gallery to learn about the life work of a ground breaking female artist. Born in New Orleans, Angela Gregory is one of Louisiana’s premiere 20th century artists and one of only two women who produced sculpture for the State Capital. She studied with Antoine Bourdelle in Paris where she met and continued a lifelong friendship with Joseph Campbell. Returning to New Orleans, she collaborated with architects to design sculpture and paintings for buildings across the state. In conjunction with a show opening at the gallery, Susan Hymel, a devotee of Gregory, will illuminate the challenges and achievements of this Louisiana treasure. The gallery will be open from 6-9 pm to the general public.
Facilitated b y Susan Hymel who served as guest curator in 2003 for a retrospective show on Gregory’s work and that of her mother, Selina Bres Gregory, also a Newcomb artist . No Fee
