Description: Movies & Music straps on the lederhosen and celebrates a silent film favorite, Fritz Lang director of Metropolis, in the German film, "Woman in the Moon" July 28.
Another gem of science fiction, "Woman in the Moon" tells the bittersweet tale of a zany scientist, Professor Mannfeldt and his ill-fated crew. Convinced that there is gold to be found on the moon, Mannfedlt along with his assistants, a stowaway and an evil businessman set voyage for outer space. A dramatic mix of romance, sinister plots, daring heroism and greed play out in the cinematic grandeur Lang is known for.
Before Armageddon or Space Odyssey, there was "Frau im Mond." Fabulous camera effects, presumably the first cliché rocket-launching sequence and torn lovers all to the sounds of Toussiant-Baptiste, Faucheaux and Fontan playing live music!
Rain or shine, 8 p.m. ,five dollars for non-members. Bring a picnic and a friend. Please visit our website for directions.
