Description: The United States Coast Guard Band will perform in Baton Rouge in honor of the spirit and courage of the people of the Gulf Coast region on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at the BREC Independence Park Theatre at 7 p.m.

During this concert a special video of the search and rescue by the Coast Guard in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina will be shown. This was the largest search and rescue mission ever undertaken by the Coast Guard.

The Band, one of our nation’s premier military bands, will appear with world-renowned guest soprano Elizabeth Futral, a native of Covington, who has performed with the Metropolitan Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the New York Philharmonic, the San Francisco Symphony, the London Symphony, and the Berlin Philharmonic.

The concert is sponsored by Albemarle Corporation, BREC, Zeagler Music and Richard’s Printing.

The concert is free, but tickets are required and may be picked up at the BREC Independence Park Theatre, Shapiro Law Firm on Lobdell Avenue, or Zeagler Music Stores.
