Description: Hurricanes Katrina and Rita have had a lasting effect on our communities. Social workers and mental health professionals have dealt with a loss and tragedy unprecedented in the United States. The stress of seeing and hearing so much tragedy and injustice takes a momentous toll. Giving so much to others without taking proper personal care can cause physical, emotional, or cognitive symptoms. This workshop will focus on the material created by Charles Figley, PhD to identify and resolve those symptoms and practice some fun ways to re-energize. As humor is one of the important ways of coping with stress, please bring a cartoon, joke or funny story.
Facilitated by Laura Campbell, MSW, LCSW, ACSW.
6 CEU’s for Social Workers and LPC’s available.
