Music picks: Local musicians perform Beatles classics

Locals ‘Drop the Needle’ on The Beatles’ White Album
A veritable who’s who of local musicians take the stage for this weekend’s Drop the Needle. Royal Cyclops’ monthly concert series features locals playing a classic album from front to back at Hartley/Vey Studios. The show kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28. Admission is $15 at the door. This month’s edition puts the spotlight on The Beatles’ White Album. Musicians include Lee Barbier, Ben Harrington, Denton Hatcher, Eric DiSanto, Clay Parker and Matthew Schwartz. The Hitchhiker celebrates a new EP release
A Baton Rouge rock band will kick out the jams this weekend. The Hitchhiker is releasing a new EP, Thunder & Lightning, in the coming weeks. To mark the occasion, the band will hit the stage at The Spanish Moon Saturday, Nov. 29. Doors open at 9 p.m. DiNola and Jetlagger will also perform. The new EP features live staples such as “Motivation” and “Blind Eagle.” The latter of which finds the band going into heavier territory while maintaining its trademark power rock cool.
