The 21st annual free festival returns to downtown Baton Rouge Saturday, April 11.

Update: Blues Fest has been relocated to the River Center.

The 2015 edition of the Baton Rouge Blues Festival promises great performances in its 21st year. The annual free festival announced its lineup Thursday afternoon.

The lineup includes: Charles Bradley and His Extraordinaires, Arrested Development, Heartless Bastards, the Heritage Blues Orchestra and Lazy Lester. Some of the local talent this year includes a Louisiana Blues Revisited segment with songwriters Clay Parker, Ryan Harris and Denton Hatcher, Larry Garner, the Baton Rouge Music Studios, Henry Turner Jr. and the Flavor and The Chambers. The event takes place 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. in and around Repentance Park and Galvez Plaza Saturday, April 11. VIP tickets go on sale to Baton Rouge Blues Foundation members Friday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m. and to the general public Monday, Feb. 9, at 10 a.m.

In a press release, Blues Festival programming chair Clarke Gernon says the event celebrates the blues in all its forms and styles.

“Every year we honor our homegrown Swamp Blues performers, both past and present, while presenting the diverse music that has its roots in the Blues,” Gernon says. “Gospel, Soul, R&B, Zydeco, Rock and Hip-Hop, all owe a great debt to the legacy of the Blues. With South Louisiana being the cradle of so much American music, I can’t think of a better place to bring together the blues, its roots and all its branches.”
