Lilette or August?

Hmm. Where to go in New Orleans?

The hubbo and I are celebrating seven years of bliss this weekend, and there’s only time for one serious restaurant experience. I’m stuck between Lilette and August. Offer your strong opinions about eating out in the Crescent City down below. And while we’re on the subject, if Alan Richman’s vitriolic article on New Orleans restaurants from last November’s GQ somehow escaped you, read it here.

Among other things he hates are bread pudding and the now closed Uglesich’s.

Friday, I picked up t-bones and lamb chops from, of all places, the LSU Dairy Store. The handiwork of ag students, they were pretty good, although I’d only make a special trip for the hearty and reasonably priced lamb chops, which featured well-rounded flavor and substantial fat straps you don’t often see in the grocery. Always best to leave fat straps be, I say.
