Some friends and I felt like playing pool one night last week. Since we live close to Rickochet Billiards we thought it would be as good a place as any to visit. I went to Clicks a while back and it seemed a little dingy, whereas, Rickochet is pretty new (built within the last year or so). Plus, it’s right next to Bogie’s so we can walk over after playing a few rounds of pool.
The layout is pretty good. The tables are nice and clean with plenty of room between. Every now and then you have to wait to take a shot if someone on the table next to you is shooting at the same time. Otherwise you don’t really feel cramped or rushed.
The drinks are reasonably priced as compared to other places in Baton Rouge. Beers ran $2.75 and mixed drinks were in the $4-$6 range depending on the liquor.
Anyway, there was a live band playing. They were okay, but I just don’t see the appeal of having a band blare their music while I try to play pool. I think of a pool hall as a little more mellow. I mean, once you are drunk it really doesn’t matter, I guess.
Regardless, going and playing pool with a couple of friends is a pretty good way to start the night, I’d say. I foresee my friends and I visiting Rickochet again before going out to the bars later. There’s nothing like cracking on friends about how much they suck at pool.
Tangent Alert
Let me tell you, I’ll never complain about a drink price in Baton Rouge again. I was at a buddy’s wedding last week in Orlando (congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Walker) and you couldn’t find a bottle of Miller Lite for anything less than $4.50. That’s right…A BOTTLE! And a Jack and Coke ran about $8 at the very least everywhere we went. I eventually told the bartender to just give me a full to the rim Jack on the rocks for $9. Disney World is supposed to be the happiest place on Earth - whatever. It’s not so happy after you realize how much you spent on drinks the next morning.

get a clue dude! $9 is nothing. Try New York or South Beach. bottled beers are $8-10 and call brand liquor is $13+
Why you ever complain about BR drink prices is mind boggling.
