Easter celebrations

April 1, 2009
By Katherine Chenevert

The April showers seem to be coming in March this year, but either way, it is a sure sign that spring is on its way along with the Easter bunny and spring flowers. Spring is always an exciting time for my family. There are birthdays and anniversaries to celebrate, the anticipation of spring break and the beginning of summer, and most importantly Easter celebrations. The first weekend of April seems to be full of Easter egg hunts and parties this year, but if you are looking for something more than your local neighborhood or church gathering, check out these events.

On Friday, April 3, Barnes & Noble at Citiplace is hosting an Easter Eggstravaganza along with LPB and the LASM. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. they will hold an Easter egg hunt, photos with the Easter Bunny, and star viewing in the Louisiana Arts & Science Museum’s Discovery Dome. You can contact the event planner at 926-9491 for more information.

If you prefer a more intimate setting for your Easter bunny encounter than you may want to consider eating breakfast with the bunny at The Enchanted Doll Museum. Reservations can be made by calling 769-0005 for the morning of Saturday, April 4 and the cost is $18 per person. I have not attended any special events at the museum, but I have heard that they are very special and worth the expense, especially if you have a little princess who really enjoys dressing up and going on special outings.
