Families on the Geaux

Fun at the farm

This past week I had the pleasure of joining my preschooler's class on a field trip to Sunny Farms. The farm, near Jones Creek, has a wonderful staff and caters to birthday parties and school groups. This was my third time to visit, but it is always fun and refreshing to see how excited each child is when they ride the BIG tire swing, take the wagon ride to the nature hike, or see the red fox hole. If you need to plan a birthday party or school trip, check it out.

If the family is looking for a farm adventure, look no further than TH Farms in Baptist. TH Farms is operated by Trey and Heather Hughes, who have won numerous awards and have years of experience with farming and family activities. Until Oct. 31 they open Mrs. Heather's Pumpkin Patch and offer tours of the four-acre pumpkin patch. You can pick your own pumpkin, visit a petting zoo area, have a picnic and learn everything from how to plant and grow pumpkins to carving jack-o-lanterns.

Once you have navigated your way to the farm, file the directions away for the spring because TH Farms changes from Mrs. Heather's Pumpkin Patch in the fall to Mrs. Heather's Strawberry Patch in the spring! Here's to a fun-filled family trip to the farm.
