As I was planning our summer calendar this week, I ran across a few upcoming performances I thought you might want to consider sharing with your family. A performance at the Manship Theatre caught my eye. Check out “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” which will be performed in July. The lessons in character taught in this classic story are timeless and sure to entertain the entire family.
If you are looking for something a little lighter, consider the Hot Dog Theater. The facility has moved and teamed up with the YMCA to reopen the doors in July for the production of “Cinderella.” This theater really involves the family by seeking audience participation during the play. The tickets are very affordable and admission includes a hot dog, chips and lemonade. Also, a portion of the proceeds benefits the YMCA’s programs for children.
It is good to see that we have options in Baton Rouge for exposing our family to the performing arts. Whether it is the Hot Dog Theater, the New Orleans Ballet or the Baton Rouge Symphony, get out there as a family and support the performing arts!
