In my opinion, watching a dance ensemble perform is something you either connect to, or disengage from immediately. I’ve had both experiences. However, I’ve always enjoyed seeing the dancers with Of Moving Colors Productions perform. Modern dance isn’t everybody’s cup of tea but OMC makes it hip, provocative and accessible.
Of Moving Colors Productions will take the stage at the Manship Theatre June 9-11. They will do five performances called “Playin’ Around!” The performance is a collection of some of the lighthearted, jovial works from their repertoire. They promise a show that people of all ages will enjoy. Check out the Manship Theatre box office or Web site for tickets.
Of Moving Colors Productions, under the leadership of Garland Goodwin Wilson, has put the 225 on the map as a place where audiences can see quality, home-grown modern dancers giving it their all. Often times OMC puts dancers, musicians, and visual artists all onstage at the same time. If you’ve never seen them in action before, it’s an awesome sight to behold. More importantly, Of Moving Colors Productions provides those interested in modern dance a professional venue in which to perform.
The company makes its New York debut later this month at Dance New Amsterdam. They more than deserve this opportunity. I encourage you to make time this weekend to experience what folks in the 212 will soon enjoy. Come get your groove on with Of Moving Colors Productions as they play around at the Manship Theatre.
Until next time…
