That perfect gift

December 5, 2007
By Sarah Young

The holidays are the perfect time to give and receive books. They are truly gifts that keep on giving. In fact, some of the most cherished books on my shelf were Christmas presents and I revisit them year after year. One of my most precious books is a torn and tattered copy of Winnie the Pooh. Not only do the stories make me smile every time I turn the pages, but I get great joy reading the thoughtful inscription on the flyleaf from my Aunt Krista, Uncle Bruce and cousins Kasie and Carly. It's dated 1984, and I think back and reflect on that wonderful Christmas every time I pick it up.

There are terrific book sales and signings in Baton Rouge and New Orleans this holiday season. So check them out and bring some joy to someone by giving the gift of a good book.
