Key note speakers

Imagine floating lazily in a pool with a sound system reverberating through the water. With no need to worry about water damage to electronics, Drytunes, a new locally made product, provides the reality for this aquatic fantasy. This waterproof speaker system was born out of necessity; Louisiana film industry veteran Aeron McKeough developed the prototype for Drytunes and quickly put it to the test while filming a season of the reality TV show Survivor. McKeough showed his invention to Survivor cameraman Michael Applebaum, who says he was “awestruck off the bat” with Drytunes. Its portable 8-lb. cases have 400 cubic inches for storage, while the speakers produce 98 decibels at peak performance.

Music can be played through any Bluetooth device, including the iPhone, iPad and Android phones. Drytunes includes a waterproof remote control, auxiliary cable and rechargeable battery. Applebaum says they make great companions for the beach, camping, hunting, fishing, tailgating and much more. Prices start at $399. drytunes.com
