Don’t let Theresa Thao Nguyen’s height fool you. At 5-foot-2, she may be small, but she’s bursting with personality.

As a child, this sprightly gal’s dream was to be a NASCAR driver.

“I’ve always wanted to race cars. My first motorized car was a Batmobile when I was a kid,” she laughs.

Instead, she wound up in a different kind of race—the fast-paced, ever-evolving media industry. She handles client relations, graphic design and writing for a local adverting agency.

The 24-year-old lives and breathes advertising. She is even the fundraising co-chair for the local chapter of the American Advertising Federation, where her goal is to bring bigger clients to Baton Rouge and help the city grow.

“Oddly enough, I love my job,” she says. “Someone asked me the other day what I do for fun and I said, ‘Is it horrible to say I love to work?’”

But as much as she loves advertising, it’s art that really holds her heart. She’s always wanted to be an oil painter and portrait artist.

She’s a big movie buff, too.

“If I can paint while watching movies, that’s an ideal Sunday morning for me,” she says.

Describe yourself in three words. “Hard-working, passionate, spunky.”

Fun fact: “I really enjoy wearing funky wigs! Definitely ones that are colorful or just plain unnatural.”

If your house were on fire and you could only save one thing, what would it be? “My puppy, Butters.”

Ideal date? “I like simple dates at first so I can get to know the person, maybe drinks at a local bar.”

Biggest turn-off? “When the other person stops trying. That’s big for me. … You should always want to impress the other person.”

What makes a good relationship? “Respect. It comes down to respect. One person cannot think they’re better than the other.”
