Four major motion pictures filmed in Louisiana arrive in theaters this month—all on March 16.
Not to be outacted, Baton Rouge thespian Joe Chrest co-stars in all four. He plays Jonah Hill’s father in buddy cop comedy 21 Jump Street opposite Channing Tatum. He stars as a butter-carving super fan in the quirky political farce Butter opposite Jennifer Garner and Olivia Wilde. He gets nerdy as Susan Sarandon’s loser boss in the dramedy Jeff Who Lives at Home opposite Jason Segel and Ed Helms. And in Nicolas Cage’s latest thriller, Chrest plays the detective hunting the cop-gone-bad across New Orleans in Seeking Justice.
“It is crazy that it lined up this way, to open four movies in a day,” says the LSU Theatre graduate and longtime actor for director Steven Soderbergh. “But what makes it all the more odd is that I have spent my entire career doing dramas but wanting to do comedy, and now I have three comedies opening on the same day.”
