Maggie Howes is a stay-at-home mom of three. She also runs the incredibly popular My Baton Rouge Mommy blog where she shares coupon deals, recipes and other ways families can stretch a dollar. Howes ranked high among Best of 225 voters this year in the category of Best Local Blogger. And like every good blogger, Howes knows her way around social media and already has an impressive collection of pinboards on the popular idea-sharing site Pinterest.
All of her boards are viewable at pinterest.com/maghowes, but we asked her to pinpoint some of her favorites.
1. Rosemary, Balsamic Pork Tenderloin. Since first pinning this, I have made it once every other week and my family licks the plates every time.
2. Fruit Salad in Waffle Cones. I love to entertain, and this is visually appealing to both adults and kids alike.
3. No-Bake Strawberry Icebox Cake. My kids enjoy surprising my husband and me with an easy dessert from time to time, so I printed out this recipe and left it on the counter one day. Delicious!
4. DIY reusable Swiffer dusters. I love my Swiffer, but the refill packs cost a pretty penny. Problem solved.
5. Poster Board Topiaries. I made these for Christmas and got tons of complements from all my friends and family. So easy and beautiful.
6. Mason Jar Chandelier. This is a great DIY project for your patio for summer entertaining.

Bad Guys, Good Eats! Pop-Up Dinner at Restaurant IPO
Chef and 225 contributor Jay D. Ducote and Chef Chris Wadsworth hosted the Bad Guys, Good Eats! dinner at Restaurant IPO Wednesday night. The dinner was themed around famous movie villains, pairing cocktails and ales with plates of food resembling famous baddies like The Joker, Lord Voldemort, Hannibal Lector, and many others. The highlights of the night were the three middle courses—a black bean soup laced with blood sausage to signify Lord Voldemort, a brace of coneys on black eyed peas resembling Sauron, and lamb medallions atop a fava bean puree to pay homage to the famous favorite of Hannibal Lector.
