What does music have to do with fitness you ask? Well, as I was sitting here listening to some morning tunes, I was pondering playlists and songs I like to run to. Whether used to motivate or to distract us from the pain, music is a big piece to most peoples workout routines.
Many of you may or may not know, but I own the FreshJunkie restaurant, and though I won't refer to myself as a chef, technically I guess I am one. Really, I consider myself more of a cook. Semantics I suppose, but chef or not, many people have asked me advice about what gadgets, utensils and other items they absolutely need to have for their kitchen. So, without further ado...
Hello fine feathered friends! After a hiatus I am back for more living and more doing, all the while giving you guys food for both thought and action. The holidays have come and gone as have a Mardi Gras season and you all may be wondering what I’ve been up to these last 8 weeks.
I get it, January 1st is the beginning of the year. A fresh start and the end of the holidays. A time when diets are launched, and the fitness industry licks their chops for everyone's new-found weight loss goals. I awoke yesterday with this thought-What if we started our new year's goals in November, right before Thanksgiving, and focused on not only enjoying food and family traditions, but also a time to enhance your health? If I made it easy and doable, would you join me?
Yes I know, that is some clever play on words there, and I am sure you can't begin to wonder what this is about. Losing weight? Lifting weights? Weight of the world on your shoulders and how I can help?

On August 23th, 2012, we all learned that Lance Armstrong would not challenge the USADA's findings and lifetime ban against him for his alleged use of performance enhancing drugs. His statement, released on his website and sent to the news agencies, was his last personal cry of innocence, of his fatigue from fighting being railroaded by one man, Travis Tygart's, personal vendetta to declare him a cheat. I just read it again, and it is believable and moving and it tugs at the one man against the world gene in all of us. USADA was banning him for life, he wasn't fighting it, LIVESTRONG was his goal now, and he was “finished with this nonsense.” Except he wasn't.
It was to be a pretty straightforward article and blog post. Get some reactions to the “Lance Armstrong situation” from my friends in sport. Opinions mostly, as to what folks thought about him giving up the fight against Travis Tygart and USADA. I am not an investigative journalist but felt driven by some force of obligation to not just base this on my opinions and the emotional reactions of those I know and respect in the sport. No, in order to form an educated opinion, I would apply some due diligence and try and figure some of this out.
Hello all! I hope this finds you doing just smashingly. Summer is winding down and the weather is turning cool and crisp, well I wish it was anyway, and I am turning my head to some fall fun. Even though summer never ends, I am going to act like the guy who wears a sweater the first day that it is 60 degrees outside and at least pretend my brains are not boiling. So, without further adieu, I wanted to give you a quick list of 3 fitness things to look forward to in the next couple months.
