After estranged twins miraculously escape death on the same day, these separate brushes with the fatal bring them unexpectedly together again at a time when they need each other the most. Former Saturday Night Live stars Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig shed their popular, zany caricatures—for the most part—and embrace the inner turmoil and tension churning between siblings who know each other better than anyone in the world but, because of past mistakes, don’t know how to move on in this heartfelt dramedy.
Writer-director Craig Johnson and co-writer Mark Heyman took home top screenwriting honors at the Sundance Film Festival for the film. Its honest and often brutally humorous portrayal of bonds that can’t be broken and the winding path to recovery was a huge hit with festival audiences.
