Hear Toadies at The Varsity

A ’90s alternative rock band returns to the Red Stick. Toadies, a Texas band known for hits such as “Possum Kingdom” and “I Come From the Water,” will perform at The Varsity Thursday. Doors open at 8 p.m. The show starts at 9 p.m. Black Pistol Fire will open. Tickets are $20 online and $25 at the door. The band’s latest tour marks the 20th anniversary of its hugely successful debut, Rubberneck, which the band will perform from front to back at all stops along the tour. While Rubberneck sold millions, Toadies had a bit of trouble following up its debut. The sophomore album, Hell Below/Stars Above, was released seven years later. The band broke up around 2001, but returned to the stage in 2006 and has been going strong ever since. In 2012, the band released its fifth album, Play. Rock. Music..
