See a new drama 12 years in the making

Louisiana International Film Festival will screen Boyhood Thursday at 7 p.m. at Cinemark Perkins Rowe. The film follows Mason (played by newcomer Ellar Coltrane) from 5 years old to 18. Director Richard Linklater (School of Rock, Dazed and Confused) spent 12 years making the film, shooting footage with actors Ethan Hawke, Patricia Arquette and others in between other film shoots. The result is perhaps the most critically acclaimed film of the year, and one that realistically charts the ups and downs of adolescence like no film has done before. Read Jeff Roedel’s preview here. Though Thursday’s screening is free, registration is required. Click here for more information.
