Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is ready to become a legend in this weekend’s major release. Johnson plays the title character in Brett Ratner’s retelling of the classic story of Hercules, a Greek demigod who has his life tested when the King of Thrace and his daughter seek Hercules’ aid in defeating a tyrannical warlord. John Hurt, Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell and Peter Mullan co-star. This is the second Hercules film to be released across the globe. Earlier this year, director Renny Harlin’s The Legend of Hercules was a critical and commercial flop. Ratner, who hasn’t been in the director’s chair since 2011’s Tower Heist, and Paramount Studios are hoping this one will fare better. However, competition is stiff this weekend as Scarlett Johansson’s action thriller Lucy might dominate the box office. Rated PG-13. View the trailer below.
