A Baton Rougean will get a chance to shine on a national level next month. Local food blogger and chef Jay Ducote will compete on Food Network’s Cutthroat Kitchen. Ducote, an occasional contributor to 225, will appear as a contestant Sunday, Aug. 10, in an episode titled “Ho-ley Pot.” The program airs at 9 p.m. In the episode, Ducote has to prepare a dish using a single-cup coffeemaker. During the show, each contestant is given $25,000 to use throughout the competition. Chefs are challenged and can bid on various sabotages that arise.
