Get an early start to your weekend and support local food and music at Garden Fest. The festivities begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at LSU AgCenter’s Botanic Gardens (4560 Essen Lane), and the event features omelets prepared by the Louisiana Egg Commission and an opportunity to taste new local food products. Attendees can also vote in the outstanding tomato contest beginning at 8 a.m. Garden Fest offers samples of the freshest local dishes provided by the Louisiana Culinary Institute and ice cream from LSU AgCenter’s Dairy Store. There will also be a singer-songwriter showcase 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 4-20, and free for children 3 and younger. Call 763-3990 for more information. RSVP here.
