Pitch Perfect 2 – Comedy sequel confirmed for Baton Rouge

Pitch Perfect 2 will shoot principal photography in Baton Rouge starting May 22. According to Louisiana Entertainment officials, the production is slated to last 40 days in the Capital City.

A sequel to the 2012 hit comedy, also shot in Baton Rouge, the film will again star Oscar nominee Anna Kendrick along with Brittany Snow and Elizabeth Banks, who is also directing the film, her first feature. Banks previously directed a segment of the comedy anthology Movie 43 as well as short films.

Glee star Demi Lovato is rumored to be among the cast as well, making her the second Glee actor to film in Baton Rouge this year. Her TV co-star Dianna Agron was in town in February for her role in the independent drama Zipper.

The LSU campus was used extensively in the original Pitch Perfect as the setting of the fictional Barden University, home of a highly competitive all-female vocal group. The sequel is expected to utilize LSU again as well as several locations throughout Baton Rouge.

Grossing an estimated $65 million, the original garnered multiple MTV and Teen Choice awards in 2013.
