New jazz night comes to Mud and Water



Jive Flamingo, a local music blog, is teaming up with Mud and Water to kick off a new monthly jazz series. The event, dubbed Jazz Night, will feature high-quality jazz at an early time slot in a relaxed environment. This month's inaugural show features Brad Webb's Making Faces. The New Orleans group will perform at 9 p.m. Thursday. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $8. For more information and to RSVP, click here.



FYI: Snoop Dogg and more sold out
The music calendar is crowded with shows this week. However, if you had plans to attend certain shows and didn't buy tickets, you may be out of luck. At the Varsity, Gov't Mule's Thursday show and Snoop Dogg's Friday show are both sold out. Boyz II Men's performance at L'Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge is also sold out.



Wednesday

Christina Friis The singer-songwriter performs a free show at Tallulah's inside the Renaissance Hotel. 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
Royal Cyclops presents Songwriter's Showcase. Barry Hebert, Martin Flanagan and Steve Judice perform at Red Dragon Listening Room. 7:30 p.m. $5 suggested donation.
Listen, Earth. The local rock band performs at Mud and Water. $7. 9 p.m.



Thursday

Lynn Anselmo Songwriters Night. Local songwriters take the stage at Chelsea's Café. 7 p.m.
Big Al and the Heavyweights. Celebrate Teddy's birthday with a night of live music at Teddy's Juke Joint. 8 p.m.



Friday

Prom Date, FIGHTS, Rareluth.Three Louisiana indie-pop bands perform at Spanish Moon. $7. 9 p.m.
Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue. The honky-tonk and classic country band performs at Mud and Water. 9 p.m. Check out Matthew Sigur's interview with the band here.
Naughty Professor, Captain Green. Two jam bands celebrate Valentine's Day at Chelsea's Café. 10:30 p.m.
The Upstarts. The local band performs a free show at Tallulah's inside the Renaissance Hotel. 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
Willie Clayton. The R&B singer performs at Belle of Baton Rouge. $20. Doors open at 7 p.m. The show begins at 8 p.m.



Saturday

The Gold Hope Duo. The stripped-down rockabilly band performs an early show at Mud and Water. 9 p.m.
Carl Scogland, Hazy Ray and guests. Songwriters perform later at Mud and Water. 11 p.m.
Electro Rouge, Kid Kamillion. A night of electronic dance music at The Varsity. Tickets are $10 online. Doors open at 8 p.m. The show starts at 9 p.m.
B.R.A.W.L. presents Heartbreakers Brawl. A Valentine's Day-after celebration featuring music from New Orleans rapper Boyfriend at The Spanish Moon. $8. 9 p.m.
Flow Tribe. The jam band performs at Chelsea's Café. 10:30 p.m.
Mindless Behavior. The pop/rock band performs at the River Center. Tickets start at $48.50 online. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.



Sunday

Martin Sexton. The singer-songwriter performs at The Varsity. Tickets are $20 online. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. The show starts at 8:30 p.m.
