Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne partners with Hershey’s to celebrate Poverty Point

Hershey’s donated 1,001 Mounds candy bars to Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne to be handed out at Poverty Point’s inscription ceremony this Saturday. The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. at Poverty Point and will include the unveiling of the World Heritage Site plaque and remarks by U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu and others. A community event will follow at 11 a.m. and includes free food and living history demonstrations. The historical site was named the 1,001st World Heritage Site earlier this year, joining the ranks of other worldwide sites including the Great Wall of China and the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.
