It’s the deal that has America talking, but maybe not in the best way. Bergeron’s, a meat market and restaurant in Port Allen, is garnering national attention for its discount, which offers any gun-toting customers a reduced-price meal. Because of the 10% discounts, owner Kevin Cox says he’s seen a spike in business. Cox told The Advocate that most of his customers “don’t even carry guns. They’re just happy I support the Second Amendment, and they’re supporting the policy.” Cox told the local newspaper that he has been getting supporters from across the country, too. “‘Somebody needs to stand up and say something’—that’s what I’m hearing from folks,” he told the newspaper. Bergeron’s has been highlighted by Time Magazine and The Huffington Post for the discount, having doled out 15 or 20 each day since the promotion began late last week.
